Edited on 04/22/2004 12:38:13 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, who must have little else to do, has recently urged state governments to pass "primary" seat-belt laws, which allow police to stop and cite motorists solely for failing to wear a seat belt.

And the Bush administration has proposed a $400 million incentive to reward state governments that pass such laws.

..find the merit in any of Fred's post on this thread...

You miss the point, Luis.

I'm not here to defend Fred. I'm here to defend any poster who's being ganged up on. Yourself, if the tables were one day to be turned.

And just exactly WHAT would you be defending? The enormous growth of FedGov that has occurred under Bush that you would have excoriated a Rat for doing? Spending other peoples' money like a drunken sailor? Something that you'd have a hissyfit if it happened during a Rat administration, of course. So what is it that you are defending, anyway? YOU come across as a worthless cheerleader for big gummint. Not a good place to be.

Then why are you so interested in our elections?I would think you would be much more interested in Australia and it's government. You have said "we" in some of your posts so I thought you were a voter.

As You have served, I am continuing to serve. Please do not be angry at me for wanting and trying to defeat our enemies who seek to destroy us.

If this is about seat belts why isn't that in the headline; I've been through all this a hundred times, ever since the very first seat belts were required in new cars and Niskanen's argument against them is the same as it was then by whoever thought some things were better left to people than government.

If the people had any say in this it was said a long time ago.

I have about five people on this thread going at me right now.

I don't mind because I stated a point of view, and have stood firm defending it.

Fred came into the thread to hurl personal attacks at me.

He got what he deserved.

The solution is NOT to be found in congress or the government, so your whole basic premise is useless. Sorry 'bout that, chief. You don't seem to want to hear about a REAL solution, so you're beyond help here.

"The solution is NOT to be found in congress or the government"

That's not what you said, because your solution requires Congress to dump all regulations on medical companies, and to disband and fire regulatory agencies and employees.

That requires government action.

It would also be completely rejected by the voters, and defeated on the floor of the Senate.

Pipe dreams are not solutions.

I am much more interested in Australia, and I do plenty for the cause here, as Freepers who've visited (like Brian Allen) could tell you. But are you surprised to hear that our issues and enemies are 99% the same? The US is the world leader in liberalism, unfortunately and almost every single idea they think up Stateside crosses the Pacific at the speed of light. From gun control to Parks mismanagement, our domestic Left adopt unchanged almost every idea yours thinks up. Anything I can do to learn about that early is of help, in arguing or lobbying against it, here. Note that I've answered your question truthfully, as though it had honest intent. If you're leading to a 'FR's only for Americans' post, check that with JR first?

When you start belittling people who disagree with you, you're beyond the pale. But then you behave no differently than others on this forum who refuse to see the difference between what our Founding Dads gave us and what Bush and company want to finish turning it into... a cesspool of socialism and nannyism that is worse than anything I can imagine. If you are in the armed forces now, I suggest that you actually READ the Constitution you swore an oath to defend. Then read both the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers (available at http://www.Constitution.org ) and then compare what they gave us with what we have nowadays, which scheme is being further aided and abetted by Bush, as well as the Rat Party.

Yeah, but that's just a random cross-section of Freepers who dispute your view. Nothing wrong with that. What I meant was, the same group targeting the same poster, on thread after thread.

See my post #431. But to directly answer your question, YES, if I felt, on good evidence, that it was deserved. Of COURSE. And Defender2's behaviour borders very much on the boorish.

No, Luis, all it requires is that FedGov STOP doing what it has never had legitimate Constitutional authority to do in the first place. That's all. But that doesn't seem to fit your agenda, which is to raid MY wallet to pay for YOUR pipe dreams. Good day to you.

Pipe dreams.

Set a plan in place to accomplish that, tell me how your candidate of choice will bring that about.

I can also say that the solution to the AIDS issue is to either stop people from having sex, or finding a cure.

Did I just solve the problem?

No.

Neither did you.

This has been a law in NC long before Bush became President.
It's called the Click it or Ticket law.
