When Breaking News has been determined not to be so breaking or turns out to be false, where do those posts go to? Like the one yesterday about the cable hanging from the bridge in St. Louis.

Depends on the type of news story it was.

We get a lot of stuff posted to breaking news before there is any confirmation from established media. Sometimes it turns out to not be true or less than important.

Depending on what it is, we may move it to Front page news, extended news or just move it out of the sidebars.

A lot of times we'll update the title to add information about the story
