THAT is where you proposed ? WHY ?

Your wife ran out on you, for a man who carried around a bear's head in a sack, looking for an anthill ? For real ?

You have a remarkable knack for...what shall I call it, without be3ing rude ? LOL

FWIW, I'd rather have a student/friend/whatever, who wasn't safe, boring, and conformist, but had some cleverness and whno sometimes thought out of the box a wee bit. :-)

My church group from San Diego met her church group from Oregon.

We joined up at Kennedy in NYC. I saw this tall thin gal in the back of our group and thought . . . given my pathologies at the time . . . wow, Ah but she's probably too taken, too picky or too good for the likes of me. But I had to try. Given that we were the tallest of 80 something people in our 3 week tour group, the tour guides always asked us to lead the group with our flags etc.

So, through Rome's Tivoli gardens and St. Peter's . . . Athens and Corinth--and missing having our group machine gunned, grenaded etc. by 5 minutes (where we'd been standing waiting for our flight 5 min earlier) in Athens . . . we end up in Israel--where Israeli security tells us the terrorists are still hunting our tour group to make an example of us to discourage tourism to Israel.

And abandoning all my years of planning to watch a gal for a couple of years, date her for another couple, 7 days later, I asked her to meet me early before breakfast. So, we took a walk down the street from the hotel across the Kidron valley from the Dome of the Rock etc. and ended up at the Garden of Gethsemene which was still closed so we sat on tombstones outside the wall.

She was convinced I was going to tell her our relationship was over. Instead, I asked her to marry me. And she said, "Well, yes! WHAT? ARE YOU SURE?" And the drama really began.

There's nothing quite like courting with 80+ elderly religious Christian folks on a 3 week tour.

Goodness . . . memories are still there. Haven't visited them for a very long time.
