Our ten pound standing rib roast was fabulous last night! Now I'm hoping to see some beef prices drop so I can fill up the freezer!

Beef, it's what's for dinner!!

"Cows frequently partake in the bizarre habit of eating their colleagues’ afterbirths after calving, and I was particularly intrigued to watch my own home-reared, BSE-free cows positively relishing the delicacies of afterbirth tissues derived from a group of pedigree cows that I purchased into my farm in 1989."

I've seen cattle eat all manner of carion on my own free-range ranch. Cattle like meat, they just aren't very adept at acquiring it on their own, short of getting lucky.

Good post. This poor guy seems to be a voice crying in the wilderness. The scientific establishment gets very tyrannical when politics gets anywhere close.

We had Prime Rib for Christmas!

I Had to explain this article to my wife who was worried about eating beef after the BSE outbreak in Washington - She's easily fooled by the media, so I have to educate her constantly - LOL

Mad cow is probably just one of who knows how many neurological maladies resulting from cannibalism.

Within human cannibal populations, high rates of neurological problems have also been reported.

Fascinating article. I had heard organo-phosphate poisoning might be behind the mad cow epidemic in the late 1990s. It is definitely worth looking up.

LOL, I know what you mean. My wife had the same problem, but after 27 years of intense conservative therapy, she's become a PhD with a minor in BS detection.

"Almost on a weekly basis we are now finding ourselves listening to the same experts regurgitating the same stereotype claims of how BSE has now jumped from cattle into humans."

The same stereotype claims and same stereotype greenweenies, PETA, veggie brains, and niconazies from the same control-freak fraternities that are still spreading the phony gospel of the high medical costs of second-hand smoke disease.

But I'll betcha no veggie brain hypocrite will deny the gourmet combination of julienne string beans and mushrooms on a big, fat, sizzling platter-filled Chateau Briand. Mmmmmm Good!

Most of what is in this article is incorrect. Organophosphates haven't been permitted to be used on cattle in the USA for years. The cow discovered here was 4 1/2.

Chronic Wasting Disease of deer has indeed spread to the other side of the Continental Divide and to the Midwest (WI, IL) as well as into Texas and Canada.

The abnormal prions remain in the soil for years. Animals grazing the same soil, (sheep/scrapie; deer, elk/cwd) ingest the abnormal prions and become sick.

The author was talking about the UK - NOT the US using those pesticides.

You must be a closet genius. As far I know the cause of wasting disease is not known.

Anyway I bought several nice dead cow cut's today, but then I have a bunch of live one's as well.

My guess is that the varius forms of prion induced diseases have been around for millenia. It is just like AIDS. Just did not really take hold untill intensive agricultural practices ( overactive large unchecked homosexual activity) began to be the norm.

I really don't think there is any way that more mad cows will NOT be found in the US. Given the epidemiology of this disease it's pretty much guaranteed.

Hamburger is the real culprit. I wouldn't eat it unless I ground it myself from prime or choice beef. Most of the prime and choice cuts are from animals less than two years old. This would lessen the possibility of well established infection in such a young animal.

Hamburger is made from old used up dairy cows and downer animals and bulls.
