Anger rises following deadly quake!!!!

Anger is rising against the Islamic republic regime following the deadly quake which jolt the historic southeastern City of Bam. Many Iranians are already blaming the regime for the lack of appropriate help and as the cold wave is expected to take more lives in the region with the start of night fall.
The few choppers, planes and tractors sent to the area, cut from neighboring cities, are judged to be unsufficient for the heavy task of rescuing thousands of wounded and many missing residents which have been trapped under the ruins or to transfer those laying in the streets to medical facilities.
The anger has increased especially as the hospitals of neighboring cities are refusing more patients and as the regime's President has issued formal orders banning any aid coming from outside of governmental networks by requesting the transfer of any popular aid to these entities known as to be corrupt.
Many Iranians are remembering the fraud which followed the Roodbar earth quake of the last decade and how most foreign aids were stolen by officials in order to be sold on the black market. Indeed, many of the materials sent especially by the US, such as, medicines and tents were seen later as being sold in Tehran's streets while thousands died due to lack of the same necessary materials in the Roodbar region.
Also, there is a in depth discussion thread in regards to this recent quake and why Iranian quakes are so damaging at

Earthquakes of such magnitude have at times made for historical significance. Earthquakes of Tokyo, Nicaragua, etc. helped spawn political discontent or sharpen nation's xenophobia. I am curious to see what will befall Persia after the fall of Iraq and their own walls.
No doubt, the USA will help. Prayers for people suffering.

More fuel for the revolutionary fire.
I hope the earthquake victims get the help they need.

"Transfer" where? To the regime's pockets?

These thugs are disgusting - they care nothing for the Iranan people... I think this could be a possible trigger.. the media should address the true reasons why the infrastructure is so lousy.. because as you said, the money goes into the REGIMES POCKETS>>>!!!
To: faludeh_shirazi
It is obvious to me that nothing short of armed revolution will overthrow the mullahs in Iran. Is this even possible?

Seems like now would be the time to suggest to the Iranians that if Zwahiri and the other Al Qaeda were to suddenly appear in an unprotected locale (where they might coincidentally be spotted by US special forces) that quake help would be forthcoming.

Well - what can work is if people stop going to work - stop shopping and basically shut down Iranian society.. the military will turn on the regime.. The problem is organizing such things is difficult with the amount of censorship activities and thuggish brutality that goes on.. BUt the Iranian people have definitely had enough, so anything could happen -- I think we should watch for uprising soon..

It seems that if the government cared about its people, now would be the perfect opportunity to bring them into the 21st century by replacing the mudhuts with earthquake safe housing. But no, that would take logic and compassion.

The last time we sent aid, it was stolen and never got to the people who needed it. God help those people because it's a sure bet their own regime will not.
To: faludeh_shirazi
Exactly. I wrote this to someone just a bit ago on another thread.
"You are correct however, that the regime doesn't give a darn about retrofitting, or providing safe housing. They couldn't care less if every ancient building or piece of art in the country was destroyed. But the Iranian People DO. That's the shame of this regime. They don't care about the country of Iran or it's people."

Can the mullahs get away with blaming it on the Jews? That would probably work in an Arab country, but the Persians may be more sophisticated....

Why hasn't the military turned on the regime yet?
I still don't see anything happening with out an internal resistance force being formed and becomming active.
To: faludeh_shirazi
the media should address the true reasons why the infrastructure is so lousy.. because as you said, the money goes into the REGIMES POCKETS>>>!!!The media should do this, but we all know they won't. Instead they'll look the other way while the corrupt bureaucrats divert the relief aid to the black market for their own profit, and concentrate on writing inflammatory screeds blaming the "Bush regime" for not caring enough to send sufficient aid.
