Woman have always been more socially mobile. Could it be that these men are somehow tied to their farms? (how much can you sell a small dirt farm for?)

If these men could get the opportunity they would move too.

As for the shortage of women, look for murder rates to increase.

(compare to USA: A pretty woman at mcdonalds counter will be asked out on a date. A guy working at the same job is a "loser" if roles are reverse. No offense just example.)

Why isn't the focus on encouraging these German men, stuck in a situation that isn't working "TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT"!!! No, we'll just listen to liberal think tank types wringing their hands as they discuss ramifications and half-assed 'remedies' for the problem. Again, personal responsibility has no place in these matters.
