Don't know what part of the country you are from but the Wal-Marts in New England are a joy to shop at. I've never waited in line more than 10 minutes. Employees have consistently been friendly and helpful. And you can't beat the prices. We get most of our household goods from Wal-Mart and my wife or I visit one at least once a week.

Wal-Mart is a very well-run company and a great American success story.

Ditto in Ohio. Now the store by us does get some lengthy lines however they are the busiest store in the state from what I understand and they are presently building two more superstores on this side of town which should greatly alleviate some of that traffic. My biggest complaint about Walmart is they don't often have the parking lots to facilitate the traffic after about 3 in the afternoon.
Do they have the numerous self-serve stations now up in NE? They added them here a couple of months ago that take unlimited items. They are wonderful when you don't feel like chit chatting or want a pretty quick line to go through.

That's the whole problem. Some have to live their lives being jealous of other's success.

In Texas in the past two years I've been to three different Walmarts in different towns and I've only ever had to wait behind one person in line. Most of the time, there's a checkout lane emptying right as I pull up with my cart. There are it seems a dozen express checkouts open when I'm there.

Wait till your stores get raided by the INS. The morning after the raid I purposely went to hole in the wall, and to my amazement they were lining up employees to show proof of citizenship. Now When I was managing a retail store, THAT was done at the time of hire. We even got visits from the Border patrol to see the documentation.

You either work for them, or haven't experienced a store with 50 checkouts with only 10 open at rush hour.

The sooner they go bellie up the happier I'll be.

A lot depends on the local management. The one here in Williston, North Dakota, has a helpful and courteous staff, everyone speaks english, few long waits at the checkout.

Still nice folks, even after KMart packed up.
