My fear exactly, and what I said to the wife this AM.

If it IS chest thumping and they don't do something "massive" and of biblical/Revelations scale, they lose ALL credibility with their followers.

That's one of the things that makes me think they DO have an Ace or two up their sleeves. And I fear that Ace is NBC of some sort.

IMHO, there is TOO much bluster to be empty promises at this point. Add in the apparent seriousness of which the gov't is taking this at what some call "Orange Plus", and I would not be surprised at all to see something tragic and massive occur - and I'm not talking about a few crashed airplanes, but rather a WMD attack.

IF a WMD attack occurs, I would think that Bush would follow through on the 2001 policy of full nuclear retaliation. The terrorists are planning on the angle of being from multiple countries - some allies - that prevents us from having a target to hit back against. However, I would bet every penny I own that the targets are already programmed into the US ICBMs at this point, and we KNOW who we would take out (hint to the terrorists: it's the nations that have supported you, so kiss Iran, N. Korea and "axis of evil" countries GOODBYE).

The "good news" (if there is any), is that we will know within a month or so if this all IS bluster or not. I am hoping that it is, as I don't want to see the entire thing come unglued - which it WILL if we are hit with WMD.

Nuclear Option? Highly doubtful, however there would be a case made for going into Syria, pakistan or iran and clean house.
