Yells and shells and gunners mates
A wartime boat, that was my fate
The sailors creed by heart I'd state,
I've looked at war that way.

But wounded thrice, I'm on the plane,
I soon hooked up with Hanoi Jane
My sailor's crew I called insane
And wrong in every way

I've looked at war from both sides now
I hated vets and still somehow
my tales in Nam I will recall
I really don't know war at all

Guns and bombs and poison gas
But war they hate in Boston, Mass
so Gulf War One it would not pass
If all did vote my way

Hussein he fell in one attack
That's one vote that I would love back
So Gulf War Two I switched my tack
and voted yes that day

And so I've voted both sides now
yes and no and still somehow
Attack the war I have the gall
I really don't know truth at all
