"What are these people so afraid of when it comes to the Gospel of Christ?"

HA!!
I believe this is a genuine non sequitur. {g}
Reason I say that, is because Socialist/Communists do not believe in Christ; or, any other diety as far as I know, Miss McDonald.

"Truth?"

Yes, it's the truth they fear.
But it doesn't matter a wit the *source* of said truth, the Word of Jesus Christ Almighty, notwithstanding.

If it's not their [convoluted] truth, they'll have none of it & that's the way its always been with that ilk, eh?

"God Bless Mel Gibson."

I'll second that.

...the man's really something else, huh. ;^)

I went to a state Senate committee hearing a week or so ago. Before the bill I was interested in came up, they heard testimony for and against a bill sponsored by Del. Black concerning religious liberty. A group called HOME (Housing Opportunities Made Equal) have been literally persecuting a little old man who owns an apartment building. On one side of the building is a large cross and the words "Jesus Saves" or "Jesus is My Saviour". He runs an ad in his local paper exhorting folks to repent and turn to Jesus and to call a certain number if they have questions. The phone number is the rental office.

Two years and $4,000 in legal fees later, the matter was dropped by HOME the day before they were to appear at a Fair Housing Hearing. It seems they couldn't get any of the tenants of various creeds and colours to complain!

The Chairman of the Senate Committee asked who had come with the delegates in support of the bill (to allow religious symbols in rental & real estate). Aside from the sponsors, the only person who stood in support was the man himself. He looked to be in his late 70's and was wearing a big yellow button that said "I love Jesus!"

There were several ministers sitting to my right who I assumed were there concerning some pro-life legislation. Wrong. When it was time for the opposition to testify (led by Gov. Warner's representative)The ministers stood in opposition to the bill, along with the ACLU.

I'll be honest with you. I am very afraid for our country. Very afraid.
