Task Force 1st Armored Division launches Operation Iron Grip
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Task Force 1st Armored Division launched Operation Iron Grip today here in Baghdad. The purpose of the operation is to attack, capture or kill individuals who are supporting attacks against Coalition Forces and innocent Iraqis.
The task force has identified likely targets as a result of actionable intelligence from various sources, to include information from individuals associated with Saddam Hussein that have been captured in recent days.
As Operation Iron Grip begins, 1st Armored Division will attack to capture or kill those individuals still involved in Anti-Coalition activities. This will include attacking known assembly areas and areas previously used to attack Coalition Forces.
Operations are ongoing and will cease when the enemy has been destroyed or has surrendered.
