MSNBC just announced that three flights from Paris to the U.S. have been suddenly cancelled due to "security concerns". The first flight was scheduled to depart Paris heading for Los Angeles.
I could not find an article yet.

I think the next hijackings - if there are any - might be done near the end of the flight, to give us less time to respond.

A senior U.S. official told NBC's Robert Windrem that the >>United States had uncovered "plausible" intelligence that several flights originating in Paris would be the targets of terrorists, including the three Air France flights that were canceled. The official described the intelligence as "fairly specific. ... We do not take it for lock-solid, no-doubt intelligence, but instead I would call it plausible. It's the sort of intelligence that matches up with other stuff we received."<<
Isn't it also plausible that if Al Quida was mentioning specific flights that it was just a red herring, and that the attack will be coming from somewhere else?

Oh my God, your right Debka kind of had it right, must be that the regulars are off for the holiday.

Some of the intelligence was "date-specific, some route-specific. ... There are other flights and routes," he said, adding without elaboration that Air France was not the only airline discussed in the reports. I wonder if this is the decoy routes. Dates and routes are enough to lead us down a very narrow road, as far as investigations go. I just hope we're not a bull charging into the red cape.

That thought occurred to me.

my brother should be on a flight to Rome.
fox mentioned a precise AQ factor in the cancellation of these flights.
it's a good sign for our intelligence agencies that this headsup move took place at all.

Seems plausible to me.

CNN just repeated that one of these flights was supposed to land first in Cincinnati before going on to LAX. Given that Cincinnati is a Delta hub, I'm guessing it must have been a Delta flight given that foriegn carriers aren't allowed to fly between U.S. cities.

"Opposing Operation Iraqi Freedom isn't a bad thing, JB. A lot of good Americans opposed it, too, including conservatives." Yes it was a bad thing. And a few Pat Buchanan conservatives don't equate to 80% of the French people. You are attempting to be deceptive in your comparisons, imo.
Opposing Iraqi Freedom did us harm and therefore was/is a bad thing. France could have helped take Iraq without a shot being fired, but instead chose to actively try and sabotage us. That is not ok. As I suggested, perhaps you would happier on a French site...

Richard Reid was on a flight out of Paris. Doesn't sound like they solved their security problems, does it?Au contraire. If they stopped the flights, they are doing better than they did with Reid.

"Secretary of State Colin Powell had spoken personally with French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin to discuss airline security, including specific flights."
The Secretary of State does not make calls on weak Intel.... I think this is the real McCoy.

Yeah, like somewhere in Canada?? :-,

""Isn't it also plausible that if Al Quida was mentioning specific flights that it was just a red herring, and that the attack will be coming from somewhere else?"" I would hope that our guys thought of that too. Regardless, I'll walk up and lock the gate.

About time too. Awfully hard to read this thread when half the posts are anti-Jew/pro-France rants.

More au contraire.....They were asked to stop the flights by the US Embassy. They didn't do it on their own.
