So what could be done with 37 lbs of HEU today, any idea?

Considering that terrorists eschew high-tech weaponry (their "guided missiles" on 9/11 were aircraft with suicide pilots and their "torpedo" against the U.S.S. Cole was a bomb-laden boat with suicide drivers), I find it extremely doubtful that they'd have the wherewithall to construct a highly-sophisticated fission bomb with this material.

It is far more likely that they would use this material for a "dirty bomb" which is less sophisticated and thus less likely to fail.

Personally, I would be more concerned if they got ahold of a couple of tankers filled with ammonia. There's a reason why poison gases of that caliber are called "the poor man's atomic bomb."

Thanks for the detailed opinion. So the common terrorist is too low tech to build a real nuke, without outside help. (that we pray they cant get) But would they pursue the highly enriched stuff for a dirty bomb? Or is there something that would work as well that is easier to get?

Maybe this was destined for some other wannabe? Iran?

Ammonia is merely an inhalation hazard - not exactly toxic until high concentrations are reached. Hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide, or a large number of other gasses are much more deadly.

An LPG tanker ship would be one hell of a bang.

I'm sure they'll use fertilizer, amonia, anything else they can get their hands on.

HOWEVER, I do NOT believe that they would forego the more dramatic and much more devastating fissionable nuke if they can pull it off.

They are for MAXIMUM DEVASTATION, DESTRUCTION OF OUR LAND AND WAY OF LIFE AT ALL COSTS AND BY ANY MEANS. THAT IS THEIR MENTALITY ABOVE AND BEYOND VIRTUALLY ALL ELSE. THEY SEE US TRULY AS THOUGH WE WERE SATAN, TO THEM.
