All these are signs of a society scared into stupidity. No. "Scared Stupid" is when you shoot them on sight, instead of asking rude questions.
"Americans-I hate those bastards".
For us or against us, remember?

"I used to go all the time," said one, "but not any more." Thank you.
Close the border.
Let 'em enjoy each other's company.

Hey this is great news thanks! I heard a similar story from a Dutch friend about a Brazilian friend of his. Looks like our border people are getting tougher. They wouldn't be doing this if it had not been ordered from the top. Yea President Bush!

Are we a little paranoid,of course we are,it is not possible to know the intentions of people crossing our borders,we cannot read their minds. And yes if people do no like the way we protect our borders they need not come here.My wife and I went to New Brunswick in 1976 and we were subject to some very rude behavior from Canadian border guards and have never visited Canada since, why go where you are not wanted.

The journalist, Haroon Siddiqui does not seem to realize that by using questionable anecdotal evidence to make his case he reinforces the belief that all Muslims are liars.

It is quite possible that some of the stories may have got distorted or exaggerated in the telling. But the drift is the same. Oh, so the stories are lies, but since they communicate racism and intolerance they're OK?
The people relating the stories say they themselves no longer visit the U.S. unless essential.
Gosh, I feel so rejected. We must change our policy at once so they will feel like they want to come here more often and expand our quality of life!
All are Muslims, but I hear similar stories from Sikhs, Hindus, Zoroastrians, even Greeks and Italians.
This statement is a special note. If the stories are, ah, "exaggerated" (lies) then possibly the author doesn't hear the same from Greeks and Italians. Something tells me, considering the point he's trying to get across in the article, he would have told those Greek and Italian stories first. As it is, he leaves them out all together.
Most suspicious.

All these are signs of a society scared into stupidity. Not scared so much as reasonably prudent and cautious. Trouble is, jerks like this author make believe that 9/11 never happened. If that were so, he'd have a point. Since we had 3,000 people slaughtered on 9/11 and Canada had zero losses that day, I'd say being suspicious of outsiders who fit a profile similar to the 9/11 barbarians is an understandable response.

Not at all. The ladies and gents around here are even quicker to recognize troll bait than our customs guys.
Happy rock worship.

Even the meekest American is treated like sh## in many foreign countries. These people need to get over it. And if/when they are back in Pakistan or India or Iran--or in Europe--and they see an American being treated badly there, I am of course assuming that they become outraged and speak up against such rudeness...
To: All
the people who complain about profiling would be the same people to complain that "we didn't do anything" the next time an attack occurs...
quit whining or stay home...

Did you join Free Republic today for the explicit purpose of posting a hit piece from the Toronto Star?
That rag is a Liberal Party house organ and has a built-in left-wing and anti-american bias.
