Egyptair Flight 990 -- Oct. 31, 1999.

Crash was ruled to be caused by the pilot's suicide.

At that time, we weren't think along the line of committing suicide to deliberately kill other people.

Maybe that was a "prototype exercise".

"But there was outrage in Cairo at the claim that the Islamic el shahada prayer - believed to have been uttered by the relief pilot before the autopilot was disengaged, was a prelude to suicide and the deaths of all 217 on board. "

***Maybe that was a "prototype exercise".***

There were about 30 high ranking Egyptian military officers on that flight who had just completed a joint training exercise in the U.S. IIRC, the aircraft left LAX empty, stopped at Edwards AFB to pick up the Egyptian officers then flew to JFK where the remaining passengers boarded. My theory is that the aircraft was taken down to send a signal to the Egpytian government.

Ahemmmmm ... a lot of us right here on FR were, indeed, thinking quite as much after Egyptair Flight 990 was downed on 31 Oct 1999, especially with the rapid Clintonista whitewash despite the many suspicious dangling threads
