Pegita would you say a prayer for us you have a special blessing with words that so many of us find peace and solice in.
cajungirl, sometimes in scary or stressfull situations some people find strength in humor.
I see some are posting in a way that is obvious disrespect to what you stated and I agree they need to go bug some other thread.
But I for one use humor as a coping mechanism. To think of what may lay in wait is just to God awful to think about. Might I suggest Prayer for all of us Americans right now that however we cope we do it united and that all threats from those who hate Christian and Jewish Americans fail miseribly.
Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks for the many blessings You have bestowed upon this country. We thank You that this country is founded upon You, and that You have charged us to oversee the freedom that You have granted unto us. Even now, O God, there are those who stand guard over our land and our skies and our seas, that we might come and go in peace and safety. Yet, Father God, there are those who roam about like a roaring lion, seeking to shed innocent blood. I pray that by the Power of the Holy Spirit, You would reveal any plan of destruction, and that You would thwart it ... I pray that You would reveal any persons who are intent upon harm ... and that You would render them powerless. We covet a spirit of wisdom and discernment, that we, too, might be watchmen, for our beloved country, and for each other.
O God, keep us mindful of the grave task ahead. Our precious sons and daughters and brothers and sisters have been called upon to sacrifice life and limb, that we might be free. We can do no less for them, and for each other. May our prayers be a barrier that prevents harm ... may our prayers be a Shield of Protection that extends worldwide, O God of the Universe, for we desire the blessings of this country upon all peoples ... may our supplications give renewed hope when our hearts are turned to the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, that through Him, we seek peace on earth, good will to all men. Lead us to that place, Creator God, in the Name of the Lord Jesus I pray, Amen ...
Thanks to everyone for kind words. I do understand gallows humor and think it is valuable. What I object to is the refusal to see that others aren't amused at times and the disrespect for all govt agencies, etc, cops, and the just cynicism.
