I did read something about the Erie Canal, so perhaps you're right. Poor New Yorkers; I know my brother is barely over 9/11 and gets frightened every time there is an alert of any kind, especially subways.

Off topic, but I picked this up off your personal page and liked it so much, I thought it worth posting here. I know I've seen it somewhere before, but it bears repeating.
