I will try to catch an exact quote from the 4 PM CBS radio news. I believe he said the officials, (FBI, CIA, DHS) will review this specific information and may up the alert to red alert if necessary, or something like that.

What specific information? Please keep me from having to go back to read the past 450 posts to find out.

I believe he said the officials, (FBI, CIA, DHS) will review this specific information and may up the alert to red alert if necessary Now that would definitely be a disturbing event. The country pretty much shuts down at code red. The fact that they raised it to orange after 7 months leads me to believe that they do indeed have very credible information this time. I can't see them putting the economic recovery on the line during the holidays unless there is a gneuine security risk.

Now that would definitely be a disturbing event. The country pretty much shuts down at code red.The one thing about the news conference that disturbed me was when a reporter asked Ridge why, if they had such a substantial increase in credible information about potential attacks, they only jumped to orange instead of red. Ridge stood there, frozen, for a good five seconds or so, working over in his mind a perfectly formulated non-response response to the question before opening his mouth.
I couldn't help but be left with the inference that a jump straight to code red was given very serious consideration by these guys during those 72 hours of deliberation.
