adding an arrest:
SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) -- SFOR reported Sunday (21 December) that its troops raided a home in Travnik and detained an individual "suspected of engaging in activities that threaten the safety and security" of the country. Local media identified him as Mohamed Perenda Zitouni, a 31-year-old Algerian who fought in the 1992-1995 war and holds Bosnian citizenship following his marriage to a local woman. The arrest came several days after US Ambassador to BiH Clifford Bond warned of an unspecified threat of terrorism. (OHR Sources - 22/12/03; AFP, PBS BiH, FoNet, BBC - 21/12/03)

US Freezes Assets of BiH-Based Charity
The Vazir charity organisation is believed to be channeling money to Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network. [AFP]
(Washington Post - 23/12/03; Reuters, AP, AFP, Dow Jones - 12/12/03)
The governments of the United States and Saudi Arabia moved on Monday (22 December) to freeze the assets of Vazir, an organisation registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The two countries have also asked the UN to put the name of the organisation and its director, Safet Durguti, on the list of suspected sponsors of terrorism.
The Travnik-based firm, established in May 2003 as an association for sport, culture and education, is seen as an offshoot of Al Haramain, a private Saudi-based aid organisation with offices or representatives in more than 50 countries. In March 2002, Al Haramain's BiH branch was added to the US Treasury Department's list of entities and individuals believed to be channeling funds to terrorist organisations.
