If the Democrats introduce anything resembling a formal impeachment proceeding, they're going to dig their grave even deeper.

That may be true but I do not think that will stop them. Think about it..what do they have to lose? I think they will try it.

I hope they try it. That would be perfect.

What have the dems got to lose? If they brought an impeachment bill, they would risk their trappings as a respectable, admittedly not-so-loyal, opposition.

If they were truly to mount such a maliciously-conceived assault, 65% of the country's electorate would strongly resist voting for them in the next decade. The remainder would collectively come to have as little politcal clout as does the current NAACP.

They would come to be tremendously overshadowed by the Republicans in every political area. (We could see the NEA broken and Rowe v. Wade overturned).

Having said that, it may be noted that certain uselful-idiot democrats with outlying attitudes--take Sharpton as an example--would perceive it in their interest to mount such a self-destructive effort. (Though Al probably already spent his capital for that type of brawl on behalf of Tawana.)
