Arabs have been recruited in Norway for war against the Americans in Iraq.
This is the opinion of Italian police, who have been questioning Mullah Krekar in Norway, Aftenposten reports.
Mullah Krekar was Monday questioned by Italian investigators in an Oslo court. Senior public prosecutor Erling Grimstad confirms that the questioning has taken place.
The opinion of the investigators is that Krekar's group Ansar al-Islam has cooperated with Al Qaida in recruiting arabs in Norway and other countries for fighting against the American forces in Iraq.
Mullah Krekar said that he doubted that such recruiting has taken place, and he is 100 per cent sure that no one from Norway has travelled to Iraq.
The newspaper Washington Post wrote Wednesday that the Italian investigators believe the terrorist organization Al Qaida and Ansar al-Islam cooperate on a network which recruits Arab volunteers for the fight against the US in Iraq.
They believe this recruiting has been going on in both Italy, Germany, Spain and Norway.

I have many Swedish friends and went to Sweden in 2000. I know a couple folks from Norway. I can tell you that even before 9-11-01 not too many people from Scandenavia liked Arabs or Muslims.
I was really surprised that not more anti-arab violence has happened in the past few years in those countries.

I wish it was as easy for me to put my head in the sand like the liberals/DEMs do. If there is no relationship between Iraq and other Arab countries, for that matter, and terrorists groups, then why are investigative agencies worldwide finding links worldwide?
Oh I know...it's only because American's are in Iraq. Good! Let's fight them there instead of on U.S. soil!

I can tell you that even before 9-11-01 not too many people from Scandenavia liked Arabs or Muslims. Depends. Government policy in Norway was to land hard on anyone who criticised what official PC terminology calls 'the new Norwegians." But crime statistics show that they were responsible for the bulk of the homicides in Norway (about 50/year).
There is a big dichotomy there between the opinions of the man in the street (and particularly, woman in the street) and the members of the ruling elite, of just about all parties. If you speak against Muslims or asylum-seekers they call you "NS" (Nationalsamling, Quisling's wartime Nazi party) to shut you up.

One of my friends told me an interesting story about his grandfather during WW2.
His grandfather was in the Swedish army, and at one point I guess there was serious uncertainty as to whether the Swedish military would align itself with Hitler and the Nazis. His grandfather told him that there were plenty of Nazis in the Swedish army, who wore swastikas under the lapels of their uniforms and would "salute" their fellow Nazis by lifting up their lapels to flash the swastika.
My friend said his grandfather and his friends were against the Nazis and that there was a huge group of people who circulated a list of names of the Nazis. He said they had sworn an oath to kill every person on the list of Nazis in the event that there was some sort of breakaway within the military to align with Hitler.
My friend also told me about the "far right" Swedes and Norwegians who are basically Nazi gangs. He said that while these groups are responsible for a lot of the nationalistic violence against immigrants, that dislike for Arabs and muslims in Scandinavia is widespread because they do not assimilate into Swedish and Norwegian society.
It's funny that the far far left would call these people Nationalsamling, or Nazis. It's just another way the far-left twists things around
Some info on my friend, he is what I would label a "Swedish Libertarian", and by that I mean he hates socialism and wishes Sweden would either adopt more privatization of education, medicine, pensions, etc, or let him opt out of their system! He has an "under the table" job to escape the almost 60% tax rate.

Thanks for your story.
Certainly in neutral Sweden in the war there were a ot of people who sympathised with each side. Quisling in Norway was an Army officer, and very intelligent... if weird. He scored the highest ever on the entry exam for Akershus (the Norwegian West Point) but he wanted to eliminate "Jewish" Christianity and bring back the worship of the "old gods": Odin, Thor, Freya, etc. Naturally he was hung by the neck until dead after the war.
A lot of Scandinavians, especially young people who work in high-tech, are libertarian in politics, but that doesn't fit the extant parties. A lot of them try to emigrate, but it is hard for them to come to America ("What, Europeans who want to work?! No room!"). Canada's a little easier if you are skilled.
Working under the table is very common. Last time I was in Norway, in the nineties, unemployment was technically nearly 20% but most of them were working off the books.

I was in Sweden for 16 days and met probably close to 100 people.
I'd say 85% of them worked under the table.
Quite fascinating.
