Possibly, but I dunno. I tend to think we're alone.

I was arguing that there were other key assumptions in Fermi's argument that boris posted (#61) that could be false, and hence the reason no searches had been detected, hence Fermi's argument is inconclusive.

(j) Therefore some assumption in this chain must be flawed. The key ones are [1] intelligent life is common and widespread; [2] technological means are sufficient to reach at least 0.05 'c'.
(k) Therefore either [1] or [2] or both must be false.

I've postulated reasons 3 & 4, also which can't be proven.
[3] intelligent life has no further interest in just another stupid lifeform?
[4] intelligent life prefers secrecy and stealth?
