I like Drudge for the fast break he gets on the latest stories. I like O'Reilly for his "no spin" wisdom that cuts through so much of the crap.

And I think we all should agree with sinkspur that crediting Drudge as a journalist for being the first to write those fast breaking banner stories, which typically consist of a couple of sentences, is not exactly praising his journalistic skills as much as his ability to get the story out first.

I remember finding out about Bill Clinton's sexual behaviors with Monica on Drudge first. That's what Drudge is all about and then of course he supplies all those links, like FR does.

But consider this, if BOTH Savage and O'Reilly find Drudge's book sales figures to be VERY wrong then there is likely some merit to their beef, is there not? Facts like this shouldn't be that hard to uncover. As always numbers can be manipulated and shaded in so many ways, reader beware!

The amount of verbiage spent calling names seems to indicate to me that there's a lot of hostility brewing below the surface, [for some unknown reason] and THAT is affecting the clear judgment of fact here.

NOT that I care about any of this but Drudge has pulled the book/O'Reilly stuff from his page....

It has been an incredibly big news week, I'm suprised if any stories remain for more than 24 hours, and unless the person has a last name of "Clinton", usually Drudge doesn't keep the anti-Drudge stuff around past a day or two (which is what this turned into). It's like he got his publicity and then moved on. If O'R keeps harping on it through the next week, then I'll begin to wonder (if O'R has flipped out).

O'Reilly is despised by many here because of some of his liberal positions (i.e., gay adoption, the environment). Some of these people can't just disagree with a person; disagreement turns into ridicule and hatred.

Drudge de-linked FR about three years ago when some of the posters began to openly question his sexual orientation and his Jewishness. That was also back in the days before Jim got rid of the black-helicopter-Masonic-Bilderberger crowd who were on the verge of destroying the credibility of Free Republic.

Drudge hasn't had a big scoop in two years, and spends way too much time dwelling on process and Hollywood fluff that most folks could care less about. Now, he appears to be altering the news to discredit people he doesn't like.

I'd say Drudge did pretty well with this one.

Drudge apparently lifted an AP story.

That's just it; much of what Drudge "scoops" these days is already out there. So he resorts to manufacturing stuff, like this phony story about O'Reilly's book sales.

No, he had an exclusive up on his site, before the story ran. He just didn't put the page header in his archive.

I think we can all agree that the New Coke was a major mistake.

I noticed that with Arnold as well since he didn't line up with us FReepers on all of our positions. So far he seems to have represented our cause quite well, in the lion's den no less.

Drudge hasn't had a big scoop in two years, and spends way too much time dwelling on process and Hollywood fluff that most folks could care less about. Now, he appears to be altering the news to discredit people he doesn't like.

His real specialty seemed to be Clinton gossip and for several reasons: the Clinton White House had lots more of that than the Bush White House and the networks were plainly reluctant to run with dirt on Clinton. Often CBS would wait three days to even mention a big Drudge story and even only then it only ran with it because they were being directly challenged to go with a story. After a countdown had begun [for crying out loud]on days gone by without Dan Rather mentioning it!!!

This gave a gossip guy like Drudge the HUGE opening he needed to excel..and excel he did! Who didn't enjoy his pure tenacity before the Press Club?

Michael Savage was trashing Druge last night over the book sales figures he posted. Savage was PO's his own book sales were not on the list and said what Drudge had posted was wrong. NOT that I care about any of this but Drudge has pulled the book/O'Reilly stuff from his page....

I heard Savage's rant about Drudge the other night... whoa! And then O'Reilly trashed Drudge yesterday on The Factor. Drudge seems to be making LOTS of enemies lately...

Wow, he said there is no cure except to Kill Drudge and that he is smoking crack. What is the matter with this guy? What a terrible thing to say! No spin huh?
