This war was always about advancing Israel's agenda in the Middle East....... The 200 or so soldiers who have died in Iraq, and the thousands seriously wounded or otherwise disabled, were sacrificed to make the world or, at least, the Middle East safe for Israel.Question: Is this a bad thing?
Does it not achieve our goals of a safer US?
I would suggest it does.

I rather doubt that there's anybody left on this forum that still believes either of these. Heck, I don't even like it when people call him "libertarian", much less conservative.
Though, as much as it pains me to admit it, the current "concept" of libertarian philosophy as espoused by the national party could be stretched to cover Raimondo.

Eran Lerman, Israel director for the American Jewish CommitteeRaimondo waited 2 sentences before dragging out the obligatory "Bad Jew". What restraint that pink crusader has!!

It was a cold, calculated act of sadism. Choosing to broadcast images of a werewolfish Saddam being shorn of his beard, his mouth opened and examined for what? Drugs? Bombs? Cavities? No Justin, they were looking for a cyanide pill. If he had committed suicide, you lefties would be all over us for not preventing it.
To: CWOJackson
Re: "by shaving his beard"... Uh, hello out there. The guy didn't have a beard prior to being on the lam. Stop with the sympathy.

"Deputy Defense Secretary Douglas Feith, Defense Board member and prominent war profiteer Richard Perle, and David Wurmser newly appointed to a high position on Vice President Dick Cheney's staff are among the authors of a 1996 strategic plan ...""The passage of the "Syria Accountability Act," pushed by the Democrats such as Tom Lantos and Nancy Pelosi, recently signed into law by a somewhat reluctant President Bush..."
Okay, so which one is the "War Party" as Justina terms it? She starts off talking about how it's the nasty Republicans .. the dreaded NEOCONS .. who are responsible for the secret plans for the US to rule the world. The Republicans must be such master politicians and conspiratorialists that they can get the Democrats to push a law, to be signed by a "somewhat reluctant" Republican, to further their nefarious plots.
Ol' Justina can't even keep her arguments consistent within one article, much less between articles.

The only reasonable part of the article:
"Deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein could be offered a deal in which he would give his captors information on if and how he hid weapons of mass destruction and if he smuggled some of them into Syria. In exchange, he would face life imprisonment and not be executed for war crimes, senior Iraqis attending a conference here on the future of the region have hinted."

This article is so revealing of the Left's true feelings. It's as if Saddam had been truly revered by them. The word HUMILIATION is used so many times, it's obvious who has been humiliated here, and it's not so much Saddam and the Arab World as it is the American anti-war Left.
One can only conclude that the American Left and Saddam have shared a great deal over the years.

Memo to Justin: We haven't killed enough of them.
To: CWOJackson
yes, I too am sorry Saddam was deposed. He was a pretty good guy while he was torturing and murdering his people, killing mullahs, silencing the religious extremists and punishing the Iranian theocracy. It was just those other nasty habits of his, like thumbing his nose at the USA and launching rockets into Israel that bothered me.
If he had just continued to concentrate his aggression on Iran and his own people, he could still be enjoying his palaces and American candy bars.
His fatal flaw was underestimating the USA. His opinions were formed during the Carter administration, and reenforced during Clinton's.

The left?
There are people on FR that consider raimondo, a featured writer for Pravda and friend of pat buchanan, to be a brilliant conservative writer.
To: CWOJackson
He humiliated himself with his cowardly behaviour. Which by the way, was the best part of the whole capture to thinking people.
Had he offered any resistance to the dental exam and had to be restrained then and only then might his captors have appeared brutish.
The "man" is a total coward and deserves to be shown for exactly what he is.

There was a time, not that long ago, when the FreeRepublic homepage had an Antiwar.com icon link on it.
For a while now, Antiwar.com pieces have banned pretty much banned from this forum. I'm hoping the ban has been lifted as I always found them to stimulate debate.

Interesting the word "terrorist" is not in the article.

It's also a humiliation for all Arab leaders and a message telling them that he who does not enter the poultry yard of the Americans will experience the same fate."Well yes...so?

Speaking of useless cowards: so "CWO Jackson," who hides behind a phony name, couldn't even ping me to let me know my article has been posted here.
What's the matter, C(raven) W(uss) O(nanist) -- scared the big boys will kick your laptop bombardier butt if you call them out?
With defenders like you, no wonder the War Party is in retreat.
