It's alternately referred to the U.N., the E.U., the Democrat party, and the State Dept. I change it around as appropriate. ;)

Guess we'll just have to cruise on over to Pravda on occasion to see how comrade raimondo is doing.

I'm a bit confused on several points regarding the article.

First, if an author seeks to publish an article in a large public publication, then why would that same person be offended if the public reads it without his knowledge?

If I see a copy of Pravda blowing in the street, pick up the litter, and read the article only to find it to be an extraordinary point of view, and then share that observation with friends or others whose viewpoints I respect,...what grounds would the author possibly conceive to contrive our reading of his article as being offensive to him personally?

Secondly, the article asserts unabashedly how the photos and tapes of Saddam Hussein, receiving a dental inspection and check for lice, after he was found confined in an underground hideaway without a very well kept appearance, and showing how he received a shave similar to his grooming standards before he went into the hole,...is now considered a barbaric breach upon his will, his humanity, upon all semblance of civility. My observation is that if this received behavior is so barbaric, then the author needs to go after every socialized medical program on the planet including the very concept of HMOs throughout the western world, because they are far more dehumanizing than what was shown on the TV.

Thirdly, I find it rather absurd for any person who claims they support free speech to become so indignant if the public actually reads and comments upon an article which was published in a public forum.

Fourthly, one must question the sincerity of the author when such a criticism is levied by him, because his criticism casts doubt on his credibility in sincerely seeking for his opinions to have any effect. Who else is he attempting to correct or alter than those who disagree with his perspective? If this audience is not included in his intended audience, then the author merely tips his hand that he is merely arrogantly boasting in the wind with no attempt to sincerely alter the beliefs of others. Rather, if that audience is excluded he is merely 'preaching to the choir' with only an intent to insure a conflict remains or is heightened in a contrived fashion.

Lastly, I didn't recognize the purported author had actually been verified as the poster on FR who claims he is so offended. From what I perceive, the poster 'justin raimondo' was a sarcastic euphanism for a Pravda writer's penname, intended to appear as though the author was 'Rainman' on steroids, emulating a Puerto Rican Rambo. I had always thought the penname on FR was a farce of absurd leftist propaganda. I'm still not so certain that this isn't the case.

Merry XMAS.

Excellent analysis.

raimondo wasn't so shy about his work being posted here in the past, when there was even a link to his website. In those days he seemed to relish coming on to FR and pontificating about the evils of the U.S. and had a following from the libertarian, buchanan (they were/are associates despite raimondo being homosexual) and I-hate-the-gubermint crowd. You really should visit his website antiwar.com(mie) and go through his archived articles although I must warn you...most of them are very lengthy.

In those days all of raimondo's work would be posted here and the discussions about his screeds were warm. As I said, he had a particular following. Then there were others, such as myself, who thought he was pretty much just an anti-American POS.

raimondo tripped himself up with his fans here when he wrote a gleeful screed immediately following 9/11. He was boasting how America (he didn't quite call us the Great Satan) had been driven too it's knees, was paralized in fear, etc...the rubble hadn't even settled at the WTC when he brought this crap out. I really do encourage those who haven't read it to visit his archives and do so. It would outrage any normal person...and as you can see, there are a few on this thread who either have short memories, have never read that articles...or just aren't normal.

But raimondo didn't stop at 9/11, he just got shriller. I was curious as to what kind of crowd raimondo was continuing to attrack so I started doing a little Goggling. What I found was references to raimondo in three common locations; the antiwar.com(mie) website, in articles by other libertarian authors calling raimondo far fringe, and in Pravda...the only accredited source that seems to carry his crap.

raimondo has been ducking my questions to him for a couple of years now as to how much Pravda pays him for his anti-American crap. He did make some comment finally in this thread but it was kind of hard to understand him...or believe him.

I guess raimondo has finally turned the corner in his bitterness (I'm sure the mental images of Saddam crawling out of his hole and groveling at the feet of American soldiers is still a shock for him) that he doesn't want any of his crap posted on FR. I can't say as I would blame him. If knowledge of that leaked out to his Pravda readers it could tarnish his reputation.

Well, if Justine doesn't want FR to quintiple his readership by having his intellectual flatulence posted here, I think we should return the favor by deep-sixing his login. No point having a rabid skunk around that bites the hand that feeds him table scraps.

If the author is a MEMBER of FR, and doesn't even get the courtesy of a ping, then posting such material is worse than illegal -- it's bad manners.

This from someone who has on many occasions committed the cardinal journalistic sin of failing to double-check material he has lifted from other writers (but watch Justine's copyrights). Be careful what you ask for, Justine, you might get it - if FR quits carrying your lame-assed columns because of your copyright concerns, your readership will plummet.

He just shoved his head up his arse and his gun down his mouth.

It wasn't a pretty sight when the two met up.

Four more years of Carter would insured the stability of the Soviet Union and the creation of more than a half dozen more Red nations. May Carter be remembered as sleeping on watch while the Shah fell.

" will make sure you live to regret it (but not much longer than that)."

Such a strange comment to come from an anti-war kinda guy. But well beyond the bounds which you have long been well beyond.

Justin reminds me of the antigun protestors in Colorado, decrying gun violence, who would on occasion assault Tyranny Response Team members at pro 2nd-A rallies.
