As I recall several Bond books debuted in Playboy. Fleming was also a Book of the Month Club choice several years. I read my first Bond book in the early 60s in high school. A friend's mother was a BOMC member and he gave them to me when she was finished.
I actually bought Playboy to read the Bond books. Believe it or not.
