The Libertarian party got some great ideas. Unfortunately they're so full of nutcases who think that total free trade will bring about world peace.

The LP is also in favor of a weaker U.S. So if China invades Taiwan and North Korea nukes the South, the LP's position would be akin to one shrugging it's shoulders.

Unfortunately too much of capital-L libertarianism is too much academic rambling. The idea of having to balance on good vs another or having to make hard choices is alien to many - much better to live in the world of simple abstractions where no sacrifices or difficult decisions have to be made.
