I lived in Dallas during my undergrad.... for many people, the city spins the mind.

Dallas is a little city. Maybe it's problems and rats outwiegh it's advantages but that hardly can be extrapolated to every bigger city. I don't live in a city but I don't let a few bad drivers and other problems scare me away from enjoying all they have to offer either. A place like New York City is chocked full of great things, places to visit and educational oppurtunities. Not to go there or live there because of some perceived "rat problem" is astounding to me.
PS..Some of the worst drivers I have ever been unfortunate to encounter have been rural bumpkins on scenic roads in the country.
