"Well Quix,any alternative energy source would cause a great economic depression on the world" It would be tough on the oil industry, but perhaps the industries that support oil would be able to participate in the alternative.
One benefit of alternate energy is that it would likely deprive the Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia of most of their fabulous incomes.
