Malaysian villagers claim sighting of UFO

KUALA LUMPUR, (AFP) -

An unidentified flying object was sighted hovering over a quiet village in northern Kedah state near the Thai border, the second such sighting there in two years, a report says.

A nine-year-old boy saw a slow-moving disc-like object about the size of a car emitting a greenish light spinning in the air over Banggol Cicar village near the town of Baling for about four minutes before it disappeared, the New Straits Times said.

Mohamad Amirul Syafiq said at first he thought it was a plane about to crash. "I then called my friends to look at the object which was hovering just over the top of a coconut tree behind my house," he was quoted as saying.

Mohamad Faiz Alias, 12, said he thought Mohamad Amirul was joking.

"But we saw clearly the object in the air, emitting a bright light," Mohamad Faiz said. Kamaruddin Othman, 12, said he realised the object was not a plane because it was silent.

His father, Othman Ahmad, 54, said he also caught sight of the UFO before it disappeared.

Two years ago, a villager said he saw a UFO hovering in the air while on his way to the mosque for pre-dawn prayers, the paper said.

He added, "There's too much by happenstance for it to be just a coincidental thing." When the interviewer asked again if he meant to imply the Bush administration timed the sighting for political reasons, McDermott said: "I don't know that it was definitely planned, but I know they've been in contact with people all along who knew basically where it was."

True story: A couple of years ago I took my two greyhounds out for an early morning walk up the driveway...4:30 A.M.. I was looking back at the house (the kitchen light spilled through spring leaves just coming out on the trees. The greyhounds were nose down, oblivious to the beauty of early spring leaves, busy sniffing sand. I saw an amorphous sort of shape, like a grey cat, walking on a stone wall ten feet in front of me...the cat moved behind some branches, toward the end of the wall and side of the driveway. I couldn't figure out which cat had gotten out...we have one grey one, and I knew it wasn't her. So I'm staring at the end of the wall to see which cat will appear from behind the leaves, and suddenly there was no cat. Instead, a yellowish white light about the size of a ping pong ball moved in mid air from the wall to the middle of the driveway. Three feet off the ground. It hovered momentarily, then did a ninety degree right turn, zipped up the driveway toward me, and when it got just past me, took another ninety degree right hand turn and zipped down the street. It had to be intelligent because it avoided going right through me. Needless to say, my jaw hung open long enough to yell at the greyhounds for not protecting me. They never noticed a thing. Thankful I was still in one piece, I dragged them straight indoors and never took them out at that hour again. I was scared to death. A few months later I told my daughter what I'd seen, and she thought it was a siamese cat we'd lost to coyotes. Noah had disappeared in that same spot months earlier. Every time we went outside, we'd called him. He must have been sick of hearing us yell his name. I'm talking months of this. Maybe this was Noah's way of telling me he'd moved on to a higher plane.
