this from the slimes? expect big time opinion pieces to follow to correct this flawed interpretation of this administrations policies...

I am beginning to wonder if we're seeing the outlines of a real sea-change in the media. Yes, there's still plenty of barf-worthy stuff published daily, but there's something somewhat resembling live debate these days, in a lot of quarters that aren't generally known for such things...

Its our money and we'll spend it as we see fit. We are a gratefull nation and we'll be gratefull to those who helped us and nobody else.
I cant wait to see the list of the contractors and what country they come from after the contracts are let.

Ah. I see it's that time of the month over at the Times. The time when they publish an editorial from a token sane person.

In any case, Old Europe's indignation over the list is a marvel of hypocrisy. When Saddam Hussein specified under the oil-for-food program that that the billions generated by the program all flow through one French bank, BNP Paribas, French President Jacques Chirac did not indignantly demand, in the interest of fair play, that the business be divided among banks of various nations. It is also curious that Russia, which in its own post-tyranny days received billions in aid, only to default on its debt 1998, is now demanding back from free Iraqis every nickel it cheerfully loaned to the dictator.
This is truely a watershed column from NYT. I think it may very well be the most "fair & balanced" one ever!

I have been waiting for commentary on the money flow to Saddam, but I never expected to see it come from the New York Times. The WSJ also published a column by Claudia Rosett today, so this post, linked to NYT was really a surprise.

Considering the source, an amazing column.
1.Either the editor-in-chief was not in that day.
Or, just as unlikely,
2.The disarranged alphabet soup networks and cnn may utilize the gist of the columns lead and place it's logic and perpectives in their editorials and commentary.....
To: aculeus
That was my thought, indeed. This was in the NYT??? I was expecting a "barf alert". LOL.

A guest commentater I'm sure. This doesn't reflect the opinion of the New York Times editorial staff. It's a token column from someone outside the pale to prove that the Times is "fair and balanced".

I would love to have been a fly on the wall of the editorial meeting that let this slip through. I cannot help but wonder if the new 'public editor' trying to build fairness had anything to do with it. Is it possible that the avalanche of facts finally broke through the liberal haze at the NYT?

NY Times editorial, nailing the "Axis of Weasels" for their past dealings with Saddam, making the case for future business contracts going to our trustworthy Coalition allies ~ keeping the stabilization of Iraq the first priority.
