A survey of Ithaca residents to the capture of Saddam Hussein revealed the following reactions:
"When are they going to capture Dicky C. and 'W?' This was a media event. The Iraqi people were resigned the the fact that Saddam is not coming back. They just want the Americans to leave. I am sure they were happy to get rid of him, but they just want electricity. I would like to see the billions of dollars he escaped with used to rebuild the county and not our $87 billion." L
-- David McFarren
"It made me sad. To me, it's sad to see a once world leader living in a hole."
-- Melanie Keil
"I was surprised to hear it. I think everyone is excited. It won't mean anything because I don't know that it will stop the killing."
-- Eric Jenes
"It could be that they knew where he was all along and at any moment could have captured him. This is part of their exit strategy to get out there. It's the perfect excuse. The idea is that the economy is collapsing, and they want to get people's minds off of that."
-- Leslie Vaughan
Ithaca is the City of Evil.

If Ithaca is ever attacked, don't bother telling us about it.

-the world is full of idiots. Just south of there in owego (redneck country) they were chuckling and spouting off sadddam jokes at a local diner. A cheerful festive breakfast with all the diners smiling and chatting between tables. If there was someone who felt differently they kept quiet and were a definite minority. I suspect one, but was not sure. Glad owego is closer to me then ithica, I would go nuts!

In fairness to her, everywhere her socialist views hold sway, like Ithica and france, the economy is collapsing.

Glad owego is closer to me then ithica, I would go nuts! Pretty country, too. Not that the distance stops nuts from importing themselves - wasn't it the Lockheed-Martin plant in Owego that was the subject of an attempted break-in/protest not too long ago?

I followed the link and read the article, and to be fair, it was more positive than negative.

plant in Owego that was the subject of an attempted break-in/protest not too long ago? LOL, yeah -- and they make postal sorters, scary huh? With all the layoffs there and with IBM this whole area is devoid of imports... only locals left here.... if I remember right there were about forty protesters for a day, the media played it up as a HUGE protest...

These were probably all 20ish college pinheads, but it amazes me how many 40, 50, and 60 year olds spout the same trash.
