Davis said Kwanzaa isn't a religious holiday and the Menorah is much of a cultural symbol as it is a religious symbol.

"Judaism is not just a religion, it's a culture, also," Davis said. "I felt that the nativity scene was definitely promoting Christianity."

The notion that Judaism is a culture or ethnicity is wrong, but it is a mistake that has been foisted on the world, since WWII, by Jews who wanted to maintain some sort of "Jewishness," in spite of being themselves hostile to the religion. (Prior to that, such non-religious notions of Judaism were spread by the Nazis.) The USSC went along with such foolishness, when it promulgated its "reindeer rule," which claims that some religious symbols are so "culturally" pervasive as to transcend religion. Hence Menorahs and Christmas trees, but no nativity scenes.

Kwanzaa is most definitely a religious celebration, but I wouldn't blame anyone for not knowing this. Afrocentrists have worked very hard to confuse people on this count, but for them, blackness is a religion. Hence, Kwanzaa is a religious observance.
