Gotta say, I hate eminent-domain. You can tell me about fair market value within eminent-domain cases all you like. But I have a hard time believing in any gov't that (eventually) forces you to move at their whim.

Firearms are like grandma's fine china. You only use it on very special occasions. Eminent domain may best be served on such.

Even worse, they're now seizing property just so they can immediately turn around and sell it to private developers.
It's just criminal.

There should be more restrictions on eminent domain than this.
I can see eminent domain for doing things such as putting in a new road or sewer line or something like that, but not for city "revitalization."
Wonder how many of the city fathers have their hand in the developer's pocket?

This is baliant abuse of eminent domain, at it's best! What are these folks recourse if they are refused to be heard by a higher court? Is the court system not set up to protect form abuses and improper laws??? As well as it's other functions?
Now how are they going to judge "fair market value" when there is no one else willingly to touch the proper except the township??? And they will condemn it and take it!

Isn't this part of why we had a revolution in the first place, because we didn't want a king running our lives?
This sounds pretty feudal to me.

Another hideous example of local government gone mad. These fiends should be thrown bodily out of their little offices and be made to work at a real job that doesn't involve tormenting citizens. These freaking beaurocrats and small time city and county officials often act like the Sun King, ruler of their little fiefdoms. I hope and pray these people aren't forced off their OWN PROPERTY.

Eminent domain and governmental immunity are two of the holdovers from the feudal system that really mean the individual is still powerless against government abuse unless he is willing to kill and most CERTAINLY die for his property and rights. And be forever denounced as a radical extremist!
