A small window of opportunities to reach an agreement between Israelis and Palestinians opened recently, said Terje Roed-Larsen, the United Nations' Middle East envoy, on Wednesday.
Lecturing at Ben-Gurion University, Larsen added that he is trying to advance political contacts, which might restore mutual trust between the sides, reported Ynet.
"Arafat is the elected leader of the Palestinian people and, therefore, the negotiations must be held with him", said Larsen to Ynet.
In his monthly briefing on the Arab-Israeli conflict, Larsen told the Security Council last Friday that the Geneva Accord is based on an 'absolutist approach,' and its 'quick implementation is not possible given the current political climate.

"Arafat is the elected leader of the Palestinian people and, therefore, the negotiations must be held with him" What should I laugh at first? The claim Arafat was "elected" or that there is such thing as the Palestinian "people"?

Admit it. The ME peace process is just a Moebius strip to nowhere. Until the Palis have are exported to a Jordanian homeland and supported in their radical poverty by Arab welfare payments, Israel will have to deal with bombing zombies.

The UN is a global terrorist sponsoring governmental agency bent on world domination. They lie like Moslem's, and will sell the "Peace may be possible" ticket as many times as someone will give them something for it.
But that will never change that world overthrow of sovereign Governments so that they can sit in the seats of power is why they exist. Never do they make rulings aligned with peace, but always in the Name of Peace, do they rule against freedom. Obviously freedom is a obscene thing to them.
It is way past time to ask the UN and the Arabs, when are THEY going to pay for peace, instead of the bill for it always arriving in the United States or Israel.
There is no path to peace, peace is the path.
