I agree with you, I like John Breaux. Didn't President Bush make an offer to him at one time? Does anyone else remember that?

I believe they were discussing Secy of Energy role, but Breaux wouldn't leave the Senate with a Republican governor in place.

The senate has a lot of slugs in it that drive us crazy(ie. Kennedy, Schumer, Daschle, McPain, Durbin, Harkin, Snow, Collins, Chafee, I could go on and on...and of course Ms. clinton).

It is a shame to se the good ones retire; Zell Miller, Breaux, Nickles, Fitzgerald, Allen Simpson, Nunn, others. I sure wish we had it the other way around. Many of those old gasbags are certainly not our best and brightest. Sigh.....
