NPR was just about as good yesterday evening. They were talking to the NPR news women on the scene in Iraq. She was spewing the liberal line of the day that although the capture of Saddam was good, it didn't really mean anything in the long run, we needed an international coalition... blah... blah... blah... The studio announcer then caught her off guard by asking if she thought Saddams capture would help president Bush politically. She sputtered for a second then she managed to force out that it could "possibly" help him in the short term. She spent the rest of the broadcast trying to repent for her blasphemy, by reminding everyone that election was a long way away and Saddams capture would probably be long forgotten by then and there were still alot of things that could go wrong.

Then they segwayed into a "fair and balanced" segment with an "average" army seargent who was chosen at "random" as the voice of the troops. This fellow was oppossed to the occupation, didn't understand why we are there and didn't think the capture of Saddam really mattered.

I always figured Couric to be more the unicycle type (with colonsocope built into the seat) myself. But if she wants to ride a rich kid's toy around the NBC studios, who am I to say no?
