I would say so. Another quote (paraphrasing, but very close):
"How can I use the bathroom when my people are in bondage?"
Regards from President Bush - you gotta love that. : )

Delusional Saddam!
I hate the deaths caused by the terrorists.

haggard and gray-bearded I resemble that remark.

I am really curious as to what law they will try him under. It would be one thing to try him under our judicial system, and another under whatever law the UN follows. In either case, he would probably end up with a life sentence in some obscure prison. However, under islamic law the penalties could be much more severe. Is the UN, the US, or for that matter the world; going to allow him to be beheaded, or buried to his neck and then stoned to death?
Further, since it seems to be common practice to visit the sins of one on another, will the families of the women raped get to rape saddem's women and children? Islamic law is due for a real close examination.

If he goes by UN rules, I believe, he can't get the death penalty. Former leaders of countries can't get it. Like Milosevic, who is being tried on crimes against humanity, the maximum he could get is life. I think Saddam will be tried in an Iraqi court and will get life.

Is it just me but doesn't the photograph of Saddam resemble another madman by the name of Theodore Kaczynski?

Can't say it's the first time I heard this.
Similar amount of disillusion, too.

Negotiation should consist of hanging instead of slowly being fed into a paper shredder.

This is great...
If something comparable had happened during the 90s, I can't imagine a soldier saying "Regards from President Clinton."
Maybe "Regards from President Bush" is the same as "Regards from the United States of America," where the same cannot be said about WJC.

I am under the impression that the Iraqi courts follow Islamic law, and I don't think there is a life imprisonment option available.
From the news accounts I have seen, many of the judges appointed by saddam are still in control of the courts. Do you think that they will cast a favorable eye on him, or throw him to the wolves as he rightfully deserves?

"My name is Saddam Hussein," the fallen Iraqi leader told U.S. troops in English as they pulled him out of a dank hole that had become his home. "I am the president of Iraq and I want to negotiate." U.S. soldiers replied: "Regards from President Bush."
Gotta love it ping! :-)

"My name is Saddam Hussein," the fallen Iraqi leader told U.S. troops in English as they pulled him out of a dank hole that had become his home. "I am the president of Iraq and I want to negotiate." Didn't he turn down an offer for exile a week or two before the US Military moved to free the Iraqi people?
Other than two things he may know, what's it gonna buy him? Trade his life for where the remainder of his minions are hiding and who has his WMD's? That's it, he has nothing else.

I propose using the legal code that originated in the region -- the code of Hammurabi.

What, we throw him into the Tigris with a millstone around his neck along with an US Team Champion swimmer and see who makes it across first? Sounds good to me!
