1200 words to say "Let the people vote". Those sophisticated EU'ers.....

Unlike the Eurosceptics, I feel no principled fear about losing national sovereignty, which has become an almost meaningless concept.
Oh how American liberals wish this was the case here......

Did you notice Gen. Clark's pandering to the world-government Democrats? He urged that Sadaam be tried in the Hague, so as to strengthen the ICC in particular and "multilateralism" in general.
There are very real traitors in this country, bent on retiring the Constitution and expiring American sovereignty. This is the socialist internationalists' response to losing the Cold War.

I feel no principled fear about losing national sovereignty I am perpetually amazed to hear sentiments from Brits such as "I feel no principled fear about losing national sovereignty." It's like a man having no 'principled fear' of waking up one morning without his testicles.

That requires having a pair, first.

It's good that the British have been shocked a bit. They are the most democratic society in Europe, and it would be inconceivable to not let the citizens vote on an issue of such public importance.
To our Senators in the US: The British may do very well on their own to reject the Constitution, but the issue to join will always be there until they're given another alternative. The NAFTA working groups need to be up and running ASAP.

Why would the British want to jump in with a system that shows no sign of stabilizing itself ?
The "core" nations are openly talking about starting a "group within the group" ... what priviliges will they obtain that the second class nations of the group will not be deemed worthy to get ?
The rules that are supposed to guarantee the stability of the Euro are already being tossed aside without ever being fully in effct.

Spoken like the usual arrogant victim begging to be victimized. Why is it that mankind is so stupid and fouled up that they can never seem to absorb histories lessons until their standing over a mass grave waiting for their turn to fall in?

In most of Britain, those were forefeited years ago...

I cannot believe Great Britain is so willing to give up its sovereignty. I believe a referendum must occur. This attitude goes against everything I believe as an American.

Blair is a card carrying member of a world socialist party.
I have been surprised that he has supported sov so much.

I was amazed at his passionate support on Iraq..It wasn't in the cards.I thought his cozy relationship with Clinton also meant trouble. He may be a socialist EUer but I do thank him for being a friend when we needed it.
Idealism can be blinding and the EU is an idealistic venture. The Germans and the French aren't obeying their economic agreements.
