White House says capture shows "Saddam Hussein is not coming back"

The White House says Saddam Hussein's capture shows the ousted Iraqi dictator "is not coming back."

Press Secretary Scott McClellan says President Bush was "very happy" to learn of the raid that netted Saddam at a farm near his hometown, Tikrit (tih-KREET').

Bush is planning to speak publicly about the raid at around noon Eastern Time.

Bush was at Camp David when Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld telephoned with first word U-S commanders thought they had Saddam in custody. But he was back at the White House this morning when aides advised him Saddam's identity had been confirmed.

Bush watched the televised formal announcement by U-S administrator Paul Bremer in Baghdad. And McClellan says he was "particularly moved" by the cheers of Iraqis at video footage of the captured ex-ruler.
