How does Johnson's compensation compare with that of other white soldiers (excepting Lynch, for once)? Anyone know?
To: mrebel2k
Shoshanna, we wish you the best. You served your country to the best of your ability and your capture broke our heart.

A better question might be what is the compensation of similarly injured soldiers? I honest dont think this is a race issue.

"How does Johnson's compensation compare with that of other white soldiers?"If it isn't perfectly equitable, they're oughta be hell to pay.

I appreciate Johnson's service to her country. it's too bad she's being hijacked by race-hustlers.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson, who consulted the Johnson family, said in October that race was playing a part in Army's decision. Lynch is white; Johnson is black.
Looks like it's a good thing Lynch wrote the book, Jesse Jackson and his ilk are going to try to take away her money.

Oh, I don't think it has a thing to do with race, either. I just wanted to illustrate that to anyone who might think Jesse Jackson has a point. (Though I'm reasonably sure there is no Freeper who would fit that description...DU lurkers, maybe.)
To: DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet
lol Jesse Jackson never has a point, thats valid at least.

My hat is off to Shoshana Johnson, a credit to the Army and a credit to her country, the United States of America.

All Shoshanna has to do is appeal the decision, it happens all the time.....in fact, there's no limit of the appeals...as she gets older and can attribute her injuries to later problems she can appeal again.
Disability is determined by the severity of her injuries and recovery of those injuries.

VA Compensation is meted out in a totally objective manner. The disability percentage is based on type and extent of injury or injuries incurred. Her father SHOULD have know that but even if he didn't the Rev. Jackson sees RACE in everything, so it wouldn't have mattered.
By the way I want to know since when is it MAJOR NEWS when a soldier get's out of the service and since when do THEY give an ANNOUNCEMENT for the major news outlets to carry. What a difference 20 years makes!!

The Rev. Jesse Jackson is hereby cordially invited to shove a dirty sweatsock in his racist mouth.

I would like the justification for the difference in disability percentages. I know for certain it's not a black/white thing. My concern is that Shoshana could not walk, and doesn't look (read) like she is only 30% disabled. I was compelled to look for stories about her, and watch for her on tv. While I felt compassion for all of them, I gravitated toward her. Reason unknown.
