Season's Greetings

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all...and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2004, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great (not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country or is the only "America" in the Western hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual orientation of the wishee.

This wish is limited to the customary and usual good tidings for a period of one year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first. "Holiday" is not intended to, nor shall it be considered, limited to the usual Judeo-Christian celebrations or observances, or to such activities of any organized or ad hoc religious community, group, individual or belief (or lack thereof).

Note: By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher at any time, for any reason or for no reason at all. This greeting is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. This greeting implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for the wishee her/himself or others, or responsibility for the consequences which may arise from the implementation or non-implementation of same.

This greeting is void where prohibited by law.

And a happy whatever

The library says it can ban displays that are "inappropriate" or "offensive" to "any segment of the community."

Except if it offends Christians.

The ACLU claims that Jewish students don't feel "safe or welcome" in the school when Christmas is celebrated.

Oh, I'm sure they don't feel threatened. I know that hearing "Jingle Bells" always sends a shiver up my spine. And, I'm not Jewish!

In a month and a-half, there will be Winter Carnival and a month or so later--Mardi Gras. Similar statutes will be needed.

Why is it these same people do not forbid any Muslim displays. I have yet to see the A.C.L.U. demand that Jews refrain from religious displays in public ( I am neither anti Muslim Or Jew),just wondering why Christians take such a beating, after all they are not at war with anyone as a religious group.I believe the I.R.A. have settled down and are behaving like rational human beings for now .

It is the A.B.C. philosophy of the left: Anything But Christianity. If Christianity was to be wiped out this very day, the left would begin work on Judaism tomorrow. The only religion they want is Socialism.

The funny part is, people try to say that Christmas is exlusionary. Well, so is Hanukah and so is Ramadan. Personally, I'm not offended if Jewish people want to celebrate Hanukah. However, don't tell me that I can't celebrate, or say, Christmas.

I have a copy of a Russian phrase book that was printed in either the 1970s or 80s. Under the various holiday greetings, such as "Happy New Year," it says "Religious holidays are not permitted in the Soviet Union" and then gives a generic greeting "Have a Happy Holiday!" It did not give the "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Easter" equivalents.

Am I a kook to see something sinister with what's going on in this country and draw a parallel to the paragraph above? I have noticed that the word Easter isn't allowed in this country either.

Can someone show where in the Bible where it says we are to celebrate Christmas annually as a lasting ordnance?

Or Easter while we're at it?

I completely agree that it is not commanded anywhere, and in fact Christmas originates as something the Catholics thought up to compete with the Pagans. Knowing all that, I still enjoy Christmas as a time when lots of people who don't normally do, think of the birth of Jesus, and a chance to have great family times together....Merry Christmas!!

According the PC police, Muslim displays do not promote religion. They promote cultural diversity. This is how government schools could get away with providing prayer rooms for Muslim students and making Islamic holy days as school holidays, while slamming down on all references to Christmas.

"and in fact Christmas originates as something the Catholics thought up to compete with the Pagans"

Yup. Could it be that God HisSelf is not real pleased with the idea of Christmas?

Revelation 22:18-19
"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

Don't be addin' stuff like Holidays not prescribed by Him!!

Not sure what your point is. However, Congress passed a law making Christmas a national holiday; not sure if that means anything to you.
