The economy hit is only a short hit. Every single base run by the British, the French or Americans in Germany that has closed...came back within five years to make as much money if not more. The only long-term hits have been housing markets in remote sections of Germany where no 'rich' Americans reside and the owners are left to rent at half the price as before.
