One thing you can do that will change your perspective, is to read the entire Bible. Start with Genesis, and read the whole thing. It won't be easy, because there will be opposition. The phone will ring, you'll get a headache, get sleepy, and other things will happen. There is a powerful being who doesn't want you to read it - especially the whole thing. You can read 1 Book a day - that'll take 66 days. Total reading time required is about 70 hours. You'll find out the benefit, if you do it.

Living is easy if you just remember to quit taking yourself so seriously.I've never done that, but have tried. It was very difficult and the attempt was done at a time when I was having a difficult period and the external noise made it very hard to concentrate. But it is a worthy goal.

Not to get all religous, but when I had a short, bad spell in my life (nothing too bad, just enough to feel pretty low for a week or too) I was reading the New Testament. Really helped.
I look at it this way, no matter how bad things can get, think of how bad Jesus had it around Passover 33 A.D. He got to take the entire world's sins on his shoulder and was crucified to death.
