Should be a George Bush giving his base the finger again alert.

Exactly. Conservatives no longer have a home, both politically and soon literally. Bush knows that as long as the threat of Hitlary is out there, and as long as the Libertine Party continues to scare the hell out of moral people by promising to decriminalize every form of vice, the lemmings previously referred to as "conservatives" will hold their nose and vote for Mexico's northern ambassador and representative (and part time supporter for making Islam the predominate religion in America) - George "FDR" Bush.

Exactly right. The difference between Dems and 'Pubs is....?

If you can't see a difference then you are beyond hope.

Good point about being active. I don't pretend to appreciate the dramatic posts on this thread raining poison down on Bush and the GOP, it's counterproductive and will do nothing to stop this if it is indeed being seriously considered.

If we don't like this potential policy decision we need to get more of the public on our side. We need to write letters to editors, too, not just call politicians and threaten to withhold our unreliable vote from GOP politicians. It would help to inform the public why amnesty is a danger for the country and this will multiply our voices insisting it not be done.

"If you can't see a difference then you are beyond hope."

Oh, really? Take off your blinders, and there may indeed be hope for you yet.

Or perhaps you'd like to explain for the benefit of those whom you call "hopeless" what the real difference between 'Pubs and Dims is? When our pres starts proposing amnesty for illegals, restricting free speech, and signing legislation permitting warrantless searches, he's sure looking like a Dim to me.

Was it just me? Did any of you know prior to the passage of the Medicare Bill that the $1 billion for illegals would be included?

To me, the $1 billlion for illegals should not have been included but a separate bill.

This was a total shocker for me. It was sneaky and underhanded. This told me more about Bush and the RINO republicans than anything else.

I will not vote for Bush again nor any Republican that voted for this. I do not at this time know who I will vote for but hopefullly, with the outcome of the next election, there will be gridlock.

Same here Texas! I am hoping besides this a friend will post some very revealing info about our President that also stunned me.

Pretending there is no difference between Dems and the GOP is absurd.

It is possible to criticize policy we disagree with while retaining a little perspective. Failing to do so makes us sound as much rabid juveniles as the idiots on the far left.

Maybe you should sing Kumbaya too.

A childish insult. Perhaps your time would better serve your goals if you spent it writing letters to editors... it would also help to use FACTS rather than hysterics and poison when discussing this issue. Most politically ignorant Americans don't understand WHY amnesty is dangerous for the country. If we folks who do understand this prefer whining and screeching rather than educating others, we have nobody but ourselves to blame.

If I remember correctly, another $6.4 billion was also part of that bill to partially reimburse a few states for the costs of incarcerating illegal aliens.

I'll see if I can find a source for that.

I thought the $6.4 billion was a separate bill. I didn't know it was included in the Medicare bill.

Excellent post bump. Only thing I would change is "we are in grave times where the very survival of our nation and way of life will stand[s] in the balance."

Did you know prior to the passage of the Medicare Bill that $1 billion would be included for illegal aliens? Normally, FAIR and Numbers USA have articles about the bills in congress regarding illegal aliens. Did I just miss the articles?

No I do not recall receiving any warning about that either. I'm on all the action lists for both groups too. I was gone for awhile, so it's possible I missed them in the hundreds of spam in my inbox when I got back.

If amnesty is given I have to vote for a third party candidate. Does anyone know if Lieberman or Nader oppose amnesty? IF Nader is an honest environmentalist, then it sure would make sense to oppose it for a number of reasons.

Yes, do go ahead and vote for Nader. Not only do the Greens support legalizing "undocumented workers", but Nader is Arab and likely to extend amnesty to the entire Middle East. And of course Lieberman as a Democrat will be naturally FAR more conservative than the GOP.

Brilliant.

"Pretending there is no difference between Dems and the GOP is absurd. "

Well, you know, Veracruz is right...the difference that I can articulate at this juncture is that the Dims opposed our involvement in Iraq, and the 'Pubs supported it. Am I missing anything?

The 'Pubs may *say* they stand for a different set of policies and values than the Dims, but I'm not seeing that played out in the resulting behavior. So I guess we can add that the 'Pubs *say* different stuff than the Dims. But I don't want different rhetoric, I want different behavior. That's my perspective, friend. Calling that "rabidly juvenile" only seems, well, rabidly juvenile.

I didn't say I was going to vote for them. I just wondered about their stands. If Bush does pull this stunt, I will vote for third party.

Yes, dear.... quite a bit. New to politics, are you?

Pretending that the laws and policies coming from D.C. would be the same whether there is a Dem or Republican in the White House is idiotic. It is, however, rational to state that the GOP isn't as conservative as we would prefer... either is the American public. We change that through educating them, not spouting off moronic and false generalities.

A Freeper since 1999 who doesn't know Nader's stands and would consider voting for either him or Lieberman since Bush isn't "conservative" enough for you? Interesting...
