Dutchess: I'm hoping that others will create their own mangers also.

Feel free to spread my post far & wide to encourage more CHRISTmas mangers......Julie

Looks as if most of us are immersed in shopping and cleaning and decorating...had to make a run to Aiken, taking half my day.

Hoping everyone stays well - takes a few minutes to rest - offers special prayers for all our military and their families - and keeps in mind what we should be celebrating these next two weeks.

Not snowflakes nor sleighs nor Santas nor unlimited shopping, but the Gift of Love that was sent by God to show how much He loves us, and provided the *only* way to approach Him and be with Him forever.

Instead of concentrating on 'ho-ho-hos,' give serious and joyous praise and thanks to God for His Wonderful Son!

LOL

Since I had to make a trip to Aiken today, and needed lunch while there, I stopped at Wendy's for my bargain meal - a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger that is priced at 99 cents plus tax of 6 cents.
(and is the size of what I would define as a regular full-sized one, just not HUGH!)

However, they give a Senior Discount, so mine was a total of $1, including the tax!

They put a generous amount of tomato and lettuce on it, and made it fresh in front of me while I waited...and did not put a TON of yucky 'glop' on it.

It's great to be an Older Citizen..:))

Christmas Without You

The lights are blinking merrily
The tinsel’s on the tree
It sits there in the window
For all the world to see.

The house is filled with holly
And pinecone scents the air
The Christmas cards keep coming
Each one is hung with care.

The gifts are tied with ribbons red
And topped with pretty bows
I’m done with all the details
As far as Christmas goes.

The fire is softly glowing
I think about your touch
But Christmas isn’t Christmas
I miss you oh, so much.

If I could have just anything
My Christmas wish would be
To wake up in the morning
And find you here with me.

I reminisce our Christmas’ past
The joy and love we shared
Moonlit walks and midnight talks
And ways you showed you cared.

Staring at your picture
I long to be set free
Tonight the tears are streaming
As I hold it next to me.

Flakes of snow swirl through the air
I’m braced for stormy weather
I wait for brighter days ahead
When we can be together.

So hold a place in heaven dear
Someday when life is through
I’ll be the Christmas angel
Who shares this day with you.

Don't even suggest such a thing! If I ate one of those $100 burgers it would only give our vindictive hostesses a bigger target. :-)

Very poignant, Dubya, and a reminder of how blessed most of us really are to have family and close friends with us.

Th Good News is there will be that opportunity to see our loved ones who have preceded us to Heaven.

BLESSED ASSURANCE, indeed!

In the meantime, we can still be of use to Him, in the smallest and/or mightiest of ways, and convey to loved ones our positive feelings about them.

Let's emphasize the Giving in Christmas - - - not the receiving.

Here's what I posted yesterday:

Driving around my community, you will see houses covered with twinkling lights, prancing reindeer in lights, huge inflated Santas and Snowmen (yes, snowmen in Florida) but NOT one Manger scene of the Nativity of Jesus.

We wanted to find a way to remind people passing by our house that Christmas is about the Birth of Christ.

Here's what my husband & I decided to do:

We have a large oval wicker basket with handles (a wicker laundry basket would also work). We filled with straw-like mulch from WalMart ($1.75 for a bag) . Then I went to the Goodwill Store and got a big (about 18 inches long) baby doll for $3.99. We wrapped the 'baby' in swaddling clothes (white towel) and made a gold halo from wire ribbon to put around his head.

We plan to put our Manger with Baby Jesus in front of some shrubs in our front yard and light it with a spotlight.

Just imagine if 10% of Christians put a 'Nativity' basket in their front yards what a message that would send this Christmas. While the ACLU is fighting to keep Nativity scenes out of public places....we can remind people of the real meaning of Christmas by creating our own Nativity scenes on our own property!

Let's emphasize the Giving in Christmas - - - not the receiving.

Amen! Preach it, Sister!

Unless of course, you combine the two. The Giving of the Son by our Lord, and the receiving of the Son by us. It doesn't get any better than that.

BLESSED ASSURANCE, indeed!

Once heard it said that Blessed Assurance can be twisted a bit to read, Blessed Insurance.

The benefits are out of this world, and the underwriter paid all the premiums.
