Was it named after him to honor him or piss him off? I know he's a submariner, but I can't imagine a leftist peacenik like him seeing this as a good thing.

I would guess to honor him but I'm not sure (His presidency was before my time, but I've heard loads from my parents about what a horrid president he was)
