Maybe if Edwards had spent 5 minutes actually looking out for the interests of his constituents, rather than running for president over the past 5 years, he'd have some credibility.

I suppose he knew he would never seek a 2nd term. I live in NC and many residents who pay attention are disapointed.

He let it be known early on that he was running for the Presidency. The way he voted, NC could just as well have had Hillary for a senator--there wouldn't have been any difference. During his first year or two, I would email him my opinions, even stating that he couldn't carry NC or the South with an ultra-liberal voting record. Neither he nor any of the other Dems learned the lesson Bill Clinton taught--ya gotta at least look like a moderate.
