A lot of people crack on the French influence in Canada, and rightly so...but I find there is a heavy sentimental reliance on Britain too which seems to stultify any independent Canadian spirit.

Will there ever be a separate Canadian identity?

Will there ever be a separate Canadian identity?

The melting pot the US used to be is a salad in Canada.  They encourage immigrants to keep their culture.  As a result, there is very little Canadian nationalism.  How can there be with no pressure to become Canadian?

And the same dynamics of 'diversity' is balkanizing the US.
