(The Clintons have pardoned more terrorists than they ever captured or killed.)
The high-powered guests delivering the eulogies may be delivering them to a crowded arena.
Matt Baughman, a spokesman for the Public Policy Institute, has acted as pointman for travel arrangements, offering directions and flight information for getting to Carbondale. Baughman said telephones at the institute have rung almost without pause since word of Simon's death.
"Based on the level of interest from around the nation and from our own region alone we expect several thousand people to be in attendance," Baughman said.
Baughman said the institute also expects a "high turnout" at the funeral by Simon's former Washington, D.C., colleagues.
So far, Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., and U.S. Sens. Peter Fitzgerald, R-Ill., and Chris Dodd, D-Conn., have said they are coming. State political figures whom Baughman said have made plans to attend are: Gov. Rod Blagojevich, former Gov. Jim Edgar, House Speaker Michael J. Madigan, D-Chicago, Senate President Emil Jones Jr., D-Chicago, Illinois Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka, and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.
Former Democratic presidential nominee George McGovern also has expressed interest in attending, Baughman said.

The Rats sure know how to put he fun in funeral.

I'm sure Simon's family is relieved that we're not in the midst of an election.

Unfortunately, I am not riding the Acela this weekend. I hope someone else is monitoring the RAT Running Dogs.

Simon was Jimmy Carter with a bowtie, but without the charming accent.
That is to say: Nothing at all, and he'll scarcely be missed.

May he rest in peace -- Simon, that is.
Wherever Clinton goes -- that is hell.

Simon would roll over in his grave if he knew Clinton was coming to his funeral.

Wellstone Round II.
To: mountaineer
Simon always reminded me of Mr. PotatoHead.
However, his was empty.
I cannot forget how he claimed to have "grown" in his knowledge of racial issues when he was lecturing someone who was up for confirmation before his committee that had been nominated by Reagan.
Quite an accomplishment to be pandering, pompous and condescending in one single statement.
Does he have any kids to "rally" the Dumbocrap base in attendance?

It's ironic, just two months ago, Simon hosted an appearance by Walter Cronkite at that very same arena. I was there. It was... interesting.
I might attend, and give Freepers a report after.

Well, Simon never said an intelligent thing in his life so these clowns can continue the tradition.
To: mountaineer
Paul Simon had an ACU lifetime rating of "5".
A bigger Liberal, one can not imagine. May he "rest" with most of his Liberal friends,... and I think we have a pretty good idea where that is!

No one has brought up the big question:
Will Paul Simon sing at Paul Simon's funeral?
They did appear together on Saturday Night Live years ago...

When the Lord determines that it is time for me to depart this earth, I assure you that Mrs. DFU will not allow either a rapist or killer to speak at my funeral. Paul Simon seemed to be a decent enough guy. He deserves better than speeches by these two.

I wonder if Hillary will be accompanying her for "show only" spouse to the latest democratic funeral. She probably wouldn't miss this photo-op for the world. What kind mindless and self-serving blathering will he utter this time, one can only wonder.
